Image Caption: This sweeping panorama features the Sinai Peninsula (30.5N, 33.5E) and covers an area from the Nile River into Iraq. The Fayum Depression, the valley of the lower Nile and fertile Nile Delta are vegetated and dark in contrast to the barreness of the surrounding desert. The split northern end of the Red Sea Rift is prominent, separating Sinai from Africa and Arabia. A boundry between light desert and darker brushland marks the Egypt/Israel border.
