  STS058-088-086 Cumberland Area, Maryland, U.S.A. October 1993
STS058-088-085 shows approximately the same geographic area as this image except this image provides a better view of the winding Potomac River (top center) as it cuts through some of the lower ridges of this section of the folded Appalachian Mountains. The picture also provides a little more coverage of the mountainous terrain in southern Pennsylvania. A short section of the Pennsylvania Turnpike, also known as Interstate Highway 76, (linear, light colored feature towards lower left) is barely discernible. The small dark feature near the center of the scene is Gordon Lake, Pennsylvania; located northeast of Cumberland, Maryland (bright area).
