Dark blue Lake Tahoe is featured in this synoptic, low-oblique, southeast-looking photograph. The snow-capped, forested high Sierra Nevadas are visible from bottom left to near upper right. Viewing clockwise from Lake Tahoe are light blue Pyramid Lake to the north-northeast; shallow, marshy Carson Sink and its irrigated agricultural regions; Walker Lake and Mono Lake, salt lakes with no outlets; and Sacramento, the gray area west-southwest.
