superb example of an angular unconformity. Folded older rocks that
strike SW/NE were beveled off, and then overlain by flat-lying rock
layers of the escarpment.
Rifting of the Red Sea/Aden zone has exposed the whole section to
renewed erosion. Near the coast, eroded, reddish-brown,
seaward-dipping strata probably represent ancient alluvial fans
derived from the escarpment during an earlier episode of erosion.
