Located in the fertile Treasure Valley of southwestern Idaho, Lake Lowell (dark feature center of image) can be seen in this south, southwest-looking view. Lake Powell is located 22 miles (35 kilometers) southwest of Boise (left center), the capital and largest city in Idaho. The lake sits in a depression or a large alluvial filled basin. Lake Lowell covers 9000 acres (3645 hectares) and is fed by water from the Boise River. The lake is used for irrigation, recreation, and as a wintering environment for waterfowl on the Pacific flyway. A section of Luck Peak Lake (light- colored feature)is visible along the right edge of the image.
