This view of volcanoes on the Kamchatka peninsula shows lines of
active cones, calderas and summit cones with craters. These vol-
canoes result from a plate collision between the Pacific and Eu-
rasian plates. Note how the low sun highlights surface struc-
tures on the volcanoes. Photograph was taken on 30 April 1985
from an altitude of 190 n.mi. (352 km) using a Hasselblad camera
equipped with a 250 mm lens and color visible film. (Photo ID:
