Image Caption: Mistastin crater in Newfoundland, is a heavily eroded, complex crater. Mistastin is 28 km in diameter and dated at 38 million years. Glacial erosion has removed most of the impact melt sheet and breccias, exposing the crater floor. Another product of glacial erosion is the elongated (eastward) nature of the crater. Horseshoe Island, in the center of the lake, is part of the central uplift.
