Image Caption: Colorado Plateau, United States. View southwestward down the Colorado River in Lake Powell. The San Juan River enters from the left (west) to form part of the lake; the smaller but prominent Escalante River enters from the right (northwest). Low sun elevation enhances the topography that results from differential erosion of gently folded and highly fractured strata, but there was plenty of light to record rock colors.
