Image Caption: The Salton Sea is the largest lake in California (360 square
miles). The ecological problems facing the Salton Sea, mainly the
deposition of agricultural chemicals and rising salinity levels, are
due to the fact that it is a closed basin. Water only leaves the sea
by evaporation, leaving the salt and chemicals behind.
