The Red River, the Texas-Oklahoma boundary, is apparent in this generally north-looking, low-oblique photograph. Lighter colored sandbars are visible within the river, whose name is derived from its sediment, which is red sandstone found in the region drained by the river. Barely discernible are Paris in the Red River Valley, a processing center for the rich farms of the blackland region of northeast Texas, and Hugo Lake north of the Red River.
