south of the lake in Chad,
Cameroun, and Nigeria. The river wanders across a broad alluvial plain
built on the nearly-flat, ancient bed of Lake Megachad. Agricultural
clearings outline the natural levees of the myriad watercourses.
Crescentic sand dunes are drowned by the present lake, and linear
dunes are shown by vegetation patterns on the relative highland
southwest of the lake (Frame 707-090).
