Image Caption: SE-looking view up the Ob' River on which can be seen
the manmade lake in sunglint (left middle) where the Siberian city of
Novosibirsk is located. The right side of the view is dominated by the
parallel ridges of the region known as the Kulunda Steppe. Numerous
salt lakes dot the Kulunda Steppe, especially along and near the dark
parallel lines which are lower areas dominated by coniferous forest.
