Image Caption: STS068-207-111 Chippewa County, Michigan, U.S.A. October 1994
Featured in this near-vertical, color infrared photograph is Chippewa County at the eastern end of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The leading county in the Upper Peninsula and third in the state for tourism, the terrain is relatively flat with some glaciated hills, thin soil, and poor drainage. Discernible are Hiawatha National Forest, Whitefish Bay, and the runways of Sault Sainte Marie Airport in Canada (bottom left).
