Image Caption: This shot taken just after sunset shows several distinct
layers of gases in our planets atmosphere. The distinct colors are
formed by the amount of scattered light that passes through these
gases.Looking at the horizon just aftersunset or just before sunrise from the ground shows all the beautiful colors of the sun, scattered by the gases in the upper atmosphere. These two photographs shows the atmospheric limb and all the dynamic colors created by the scattering of light through these different gasesfrom the orbiter.
