Image Caption: STS062-083-062 Appalachian Mountains, Tennessee, U.S.A. March 1994
The dark, forested ridgelines of the folded southern Appalachian Mountains stand out in marked contrast to the agricultural field patterns in the valleys between the paralleling northeast-southwest-trending mountains. Apparent are Chattanooga (right edge) and a small section of the Tennessee River to its west and dark, irregular Nickajack Lake in Tennessee(upper right corner).
