STS49-88-081: Southeastern Mexico Mar Muerto ("Dead Sea") bounds
the coast of eastern Chiapas and western Oaxaca, southeastern
Mexico, at the narrowest part of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec.
Ruddy colors on the mountains show mostly undisturbed, closed-
canopy forest; the lack of red color throughout most of the frame
indicates fallow conditions in fields, and dormant pastures near
the end of the dry season. Hasselblad camera, 250mm lens, color-
infrared film.
