STS047-85-051 Mt. Etna, Sicily. Steam blows from Etna's summit.
The current eruption is ongoing. Sicilian civil engineers are
attempting to thwart the SE flowing lava which threatens
developed and cultivated land.

STS047-85-051 and 85-052 These two companion shots of Mt. Etna on
the island of Sicily provides a good example of the impact that
"look angle" can have on the same scene--only from slightly dif-
ferent acquisition angles. Note the marked difference in surface
water detail in the two images; keep in mind that these two pho-
tographs were acquired with only a twenty second time difference
between them.
