irrigated and well-vegetated inland delta of the Zeravshan River
contrasts strongly with the surrounding sandy grassland known as
the Kanshinskaya steppe. The famous rug-weaving city of Bokhara
is located on the delta. The Zeravshan R. drains the west side
of the Pamir Mtns.
