STS46-89-20 Wide angle view of Lake Natron and it's surrounding
volcanoes, including the carbonatite volcano Oldoinyo Lengai
Oldoinyo Lengai is marked by a white summit.... weathered car-
bonatite lava (NaCO3). This is the world's only active carbona-
tite volcano. The volcano's NA-rich lavas are the source for the
high Na contents in Lake Natron (hence, the name).
