STS045-80-051: Great Salt Lake This near-vertical view of the
Great Salt Lake shows a curious pink-colored material on the wa-
ter surface, south of the causeway which bisects the lake. The
material is biogenous in content and likely a species of bacteria
or phytoplankton that is suited to hypersaline environments.
