Image Caption:
STS044-80-082: ALGERIAN DUNES The degree of detail available to
the viewer is greater within the region of the terminator than on
either the dark or the light side of it. Here central Algeria
receives afternoon sun; eastern Algeria (with the well known as-
tronaut landmark of the fingerlike Tifernine dune field) lies at
the terminator, displaying rich landscape detail; and Libya hides
in the dark.
