STS042-81-002 (CVIS) Indus River Delta (24.0! N, 68.0! E)
This oblique view was photographed just as the sunglint
pattern was positioned directly over the Indus River Delta, along
the northwest coast of India. The nearly specular reflectance of
sunlight from water (bright areas) contrasted with the diffuse
reflectance of emergent land (dark areas) serves to delineate the
intricate drainage pattern of the delta and adjacent wetlands.
The photograph was taken on 24 January at 04:39 GMT using a
Hasselblad camera equipped with natural color transparency film
and a 250 mm lens.
