Image Caption: Low sun angles highlight geomorphic features on Tibesti massif,
Chad. The young Tousside summit is a sharp cone, covered with
young black lavas. Lavas partly fill the adjacent, older cal-
dera. Young cinder cones dot the volcano flank. Over several
million years the point of volcanism has shifted slightly west-
ward. Old, dissected volcanic peaks, many with summit calderas,
occur SE of Tousside. The photograph was taken on 10 October
1990 from an altitude of 162 n.mi. (300 km) using a Hasselblad
camera equipped with a 240 mm lens and color visible film.
