Image Caption:
STS040-151-039 Lower Chesapeake Bay seen without sunglint. Here,
reflected light comes mostly from beneath the water surface.
Various underwater features can be seen, including sandbars
(light colored areas) and large canopies of submerged vegetation
(dark areas adjacent to the shore). The vegetated areas are used
by various species of commercially important fish and shellfish
as breeding grounds.
