S36-151-098: Naxos and other Greek islands in the Aegean Sea The
largest island in the view is Naxos. This and surrounding is-
lands preserve the older ways of life of the Greek islands. One
roadway exists on Naxos and none on the others. Because of their
remoteness from city life, these islands, and many others in the
Aegean have become havens for holiday makers and retirees from
northern Europe, an influx which has caused a growth in construc-
tion. The northern Mediterranean is less polluted than other
parts and appears a brilliant blue from the air and from space.
Other islands in the view are Mykonos, Tenos, and Paros.
