Image Caption:
Western United States (S31-77-067). This one of three photo-
graphs which completely image the west-to-east span of the United
States (S31-77-77, Central U.S., and S31-77-85, East coast). The
photograph was taken over Mexico and extends northward to Mount
Shasta, northern California. Low coastal clouds lap up along the
Baja California and southern California coasts. The Salton Sea
and Imperial Valley agricultural area is just above center, and
the heavily cultivated Central Valley of California is due north.
Snow-capped peaks of the Sierra Nevada and White Mountains can be
seen at the top of the photograph just right of center, and the
small white dot at the top of the Central Valley is Mt. Shasta.
