The Nova Jacui Reservior
The heavily silted waters of the Nova Jacui Reservoir is shown in
this low oblique north- looking view. Heavy agriculture and poor
land management has caused excessive soil erosion. Little
forested land remains. The reservoir built to produce electrical
power and provide irrigation for a half a century, will likely
last less than 30 years due to silting up from the severe soil
erosion upstream. (S08-48-2463)
