Ancient Folded Rocks

Low hills, up to 200 m (600') high, can be seen (top right) ris-
ing above sandy plains (left) on which a field of linear dunes is
visible (top left). Straight lineaments and parallel curved
lines mark the faulted and folded structures of the ancient
rocks. The hill country is also distinguished from the surround-
ing, lighter-colored plains by darker colors of the exposed
rocks. (S08-34-1208)
