STS073-744-047 Santa Clara River Valley, California, U.S.A. November 1995
The relatively small, though agriculturally diverse, Santa Clara River Valley is featured between the rugged San Rafael Mountains to the north and the western end of the Santa Monica Mountains to the southeast. This fertile valley, known as the Ventura Lowlands, is noted for its lemons, walnuts, avocados, vegetables, greenhouse and nursery products, and vineyards. Visible are Oxnard, Ventura, two separate airport runways, and the military installations of Port Hueneme and Point Mugu Naval Air Station.
