STS073-706-036 Oil and Gas Production, West Texas, U.S.A. October 1995
Some of the specific features that can be identified in this arid terrain immediately southwest of Odessa are highly reflective, sparsely vegetated sand dunes; white nonvegetated dry lakebeds; dry Juan Cordona Lake northeast of the meandering Pecos River and its floodplain; and Interstate Highway 20 (lower left corner). Subtle grid patterns of small, light dots show the locations and concentrations of producing oil and gas fields in the region.
