Baraawee, Somalia, January 1998. Barraawe, Somalia is located among the coastal sand dunes south of Mogadishu. El Nino conditions were at their peak when this photo was taken. Sea Surface Temperatures along the west coast of South America were up to 5 to 6 deg C above normal. Rainfall over southern Somalia was at least 400 mm above normal which explains the greeness of the vegetation surrounding the sand dunes.Download Packaged File.
