11. STS073-716-083 Manhattan, seen in the center of
this image, is located at the confluence of the Big Blue and Kansas
(Kaw) Rivers. Manhattan lies on the northern edge of the Flint Hills
and is the home of Kansas State University. The city, founded in 1855
and serving as the seat of Riley County, straddles both Riley and
Pottawatomie Counties. Just north of the city is Tuttle Creek
Reservoir, an area noted for its outdoor recreation. This photo was
taken on the
afternoon of Oct. 27, 1995.
