Fires (red dots) in Mexico and Central America in the burning seasons of 1993 and 1998. The data were obtained from the DMSP Operational Linescan System (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, 1998). To enhance the contrast, we expanded the area of each dot by one pixel for both maps.
