Astronaut photography of Earth has transformed our perspective on the home planet and our place in the universe. Left in the public domain for the benefit of all humankind, it has appeared throughout the world in print, advertising, and multimedia applications.

At our core is NASA's mission to "understand and protect our home planet." We track the publications that have relied on astronaut photography that help to meet this objective--publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals, popular science venues, and educational outlets. As scientists, we are most proud of the hundreds of scientific articles that use astronaut photographs of Earth as a source of information about the planet.
