This view across the southern Tibetan Plateau includes from Mapam Yumco and La'nga Co at right center to Thakkola valley at the very far left. Thakkola Valley lies in the Thakkola-Mustang Graben (a graben is a fault-bounded block in which the walls of the valley are moving apart and allowing the valley to drop). The Brahmaputra (Tsangpo) River has its origin to left of the lakes and continues along the broad valley (the Indus Suture Zone) to lower left of the picture. |
