| Birket Qarun (-148 ft) is the third largest lake in Egypt and is part the ancient Lake Moeris visited and described by Herodotus in 450 BC. It is situated on the northern edge of the Al-Fayoum Oasis and is now fed by a canal from the Nile River. |
