Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The town of Abu Dhabi was chosen as the capital of the United Arab Emirates in 1971. Since this time the city has been modernixed, and over twenty million trees have been planted in the immediate area. Port facilities have been modernized to handle bigger tankers. Changes in the comparitive view (STS030-89-080 of 1989) are the expansion of dredge islands and the development of new port facilities.
