| United States: Mount Cook, Southern Alps of South Island, New Zealand. Franz Josef glacier, just northwest of Mount Cook on the west side of the range, has been advancing (as much as 20 m) over the past two decades. In contrast, other tropical glaciers (Peru, Kilimanjaro, etc.) have been retreating rapidly. |
