| Europe: Western Alps (part of a rare, clear series: STS098-712-49 through 63). The Maritime Alps of western Italy/eastern France form the curving horn of the mountain belt, embracing the unusually smog-free Po valley plain. Faults of the younger Rhone rift truncate and down-drop Alpine folded structures. Lakes Como and Maggiore. |
