Africa: An analogue for arid drainage and erosion on Mars? The wonderful 3D perspective of this photograph shows the drainages cutting through different layers of lava. It is possible that the plateau serves as an analogue for ancient streams on Mars cutting through basaltic layers during a previously wetter climate.

Africa: Tibesti Massif, Aorounga Impact Crater, Chad. Tibesti is proof that no matter what the odds, you can have volcanoes collocated with an impact crater (Aorounga, 12.6 km diameter, <345 million years old). Unfortunately, in this view with relatively few clouds, Aorounga impact crater is under cloud. Tibesti also serves as an analogue for Olympus Mons, Mars, as do the giant wind-eroded grooves that sweep around the Tibesti massif.
