Mt. Ruapehu, North Island, New Zealand. Ruapehu is one of a line of active volcanoes that marks the margin between the Australian-Indian and the Pacific tectonic plates. In a recent eruption, Ruapehu blasted the acidic waters out of its crater lake and over the surrounding countryside.
