DATA REQUEST FORM
This Data Request Form is for student teams who want to request new imagery of Earth to be acquired to support a class project/research investigation. Imagery would be acquired by an astronaut onboard the International Space Station (ISS). Submissions will be reviewed and accepted based on justification provided below. Acceptance of new data requests is not guaranteed.

Please fill out the information requested in the drop down boxes below. Required sections include:
  • Student Research Team Information
  • Your Project
  • Image Requests
These requests should only be submitted by the adult educator/teacher working with the group of students and with parental consent. The educator/teacher will be contacted by a member of the CEO team to verify the information provided – if it is not possible to verify the information, the request for new imagery will not be accepted. Do not include identifiable information in any field on the form for any student – if such information is included, the imagery request will not be accepted and all submitted information will be deleted.

If you have questions or complications filling out this form, please contact jsc-earthweb@mail.nasa.gov.

Student Research Team Information

School Address:
(Specify extension like this: 000-000-0000x123)

Your Project

  1. Please indicate what stage of research you are in:

  2. Depending on the stage of your research, please provide information about your: a) hypothesis or b) conclusions:

Image Requests

Include at least one site (two maximum) you would like to have acquired to help support your research or test your conclusions. Provide detailed information to help ensure that your request can be considered and included in the Crew Earth Observation target list sent to astronauts onboard the ISS. If two sites are requested, please indicate which is the higher priority by checking the appropriate box.

Note: ISS operates between 51.6°S and 51.6°N. Any latitude coordinates to the north or south of those coordinates will result in obliquity and degradation of image features. It is advised to keep your site request between 53°S and 53°N, especially when requesting imagery of small features.

Higher Priority Request:

Request 1

  1. Center latitude and longitude of feature or location of interest:

  2. OPTIONAL (BUT HIGHLY ENCOURAGED): To help ensure we appropriately identify your image request, please provide up to two showing the area you would like imaged. Suggested screen shots include: 1) a context view with appropriate geographic reference information visible and 2) a zoomed in screen shot that clearly identifies the area of interest. Make sure you clearly indicate the areas within each you would like imaged.
  3. Sun elevation:

  4. View angle:
(0 to 15 degree angle from perfect nadir to target; also called "near vertical")
(greater than 15 to up to 55 degree angle from perfect nadir to target)
(greater than 55 degree angle from perfect nadir to target)
  5. Frequency:

    ;

  6. Acceptable cloud cover percent:

NOTE: Successful image acquisition depends on astronaut work load, cloud cover, sun illumination, and when the ISS may be flying over your requested image locations. As such, we cannot guarantee imagery will be acquired by any specific date or time.
